Tigre Delta

Staying with Diana has proven to be a wonderful experience as I get to experience everyday life in Buenos Aires. On most weekends, Diana and her friends meet at a country club in Tigre which is just north of Buenos Aires. Tigre is right next to the Tigre Delta which is where I explored for the day while Diana played tennis.

In order to truly experience the delta would require maybe three or four days staying at one of the many beautiful hosterias or hotels in the delta area. This is a view of Tigre and the delta to the north of it.

Even though the map shows an unpopulated delta area, there are houses and noticeable development along much of the shoreline, although every place looks like a beautiful park. There were people boating, kayaking, tanning, relaxing, and generally enjoying life everywhere you looked.

I spent a few hours walking around the town of Tigre then took a 1 hour boat ride up the Rio Sarmiento which only brought me a short way into the delta, but long enough to make me want more. I think it would be a very nice place for a vacation, a view that is shared by many Argentinians each year.

Later on, Diana gave me a tour of the country club which is enormous including acres of tennis courts, indoor stadiums and residences. We also visited another part of the club where you can rent an apartment away from the hustle and bustle of the city, which is exactly what her sister was doing. We visited there for a while, and I met several other of her relatives.

All in all, it was a very interesting day that showed another incredible part of Buenos Aires life.
