Reepham & Blickling

After some pleasant travel via planes, trains, and automobiles, my mother and I successfully arrived in England, home of the Queen and Stephen Fry! My mother’s cousin (which makes her my cousin once removed) welcomed us into her and her husband’s home for the week or so of our trip.

This post actually picks up a day after our arrival in Norfolk and two days after our arrival in London.

Reepham

The main purpose of our stop in Reepham was to visit an authentic English pub. The pub did not disappoint; they even had their own local brews which were quite good … well, at least I could assume that after tasting Kings Panther.

Following our visit to Reepham, we proceeded to the main event: Blickling Estate. This old estate, now run by the National Trust, saw as one of its residents, Anne Boleyn. It is a lovely old house full of beautiful tapestries, furniture, books, and decorative wallpapers, ceilings and walls. One of the most appealing aspects of Blickling is the gardens. The gardens are maintained and include hedges, topiaries, and many flowers and shrubs. At the end of one of the gardens is a summerhouse, but we actually didn’t have enough time to go explore it.

An incredibly enjoyable day followed by a relaxing local beer.
