First of all, here is a seasoned traveller tip:
Before you travel, download the City Maps2Go app from the Play store, pay the whopping $1.99 for the unlimited edition and download all the maps you will need for your trip. When you travel, just remove the sim card from your phone and use the offline maps on City Maps2Go and the gps capability of your phone to find your way around the city.
Today was a travel day: I have now left Chile for Argentina. Buenos Aires is an extremely busy city, or maybe it just seemed that way because I arrived at rush hour on a Friday (and Valentine’s Day). Despite all of the forum posts I read that said Santiago was a smoggy city, Buenos Aires is far worse. I don’t recall smelling exhaust fumes in Santiago, but I do here. I’m sure as I get to know the city, it will turn out to be just as enjoyable as previous ones.
The American Airlines executive lounge at the Santiago Airport is quite nice and I think I was well liquored up by the time I got on the plane. I never thought I would say this, but unfortunately, the flight was only 1.5 hours long, lol. Bus from the airport to downtown cost $130 (Argentinian Pesos), so about $20 Canadian which was half the cost of a taxi. Of course, if you are riding with someone else, you might as well take the taxi.
The internet strength seems pretty good at this hotel, so I might just spend the evening watching some netflix.
