Bicycling in Patagonia

After 6 months of not riding a bike, it was quite a shock to the system to jump on an inferior bike and climb hill after hill on a 25 km bike ride. It actually wasn’t too bad; I just walked the bike up the really steep hills and enjoyed the downhills and the scenery.

Although, that took most of the day, I also went for a bit of walk around town to see what was going on. In the late afternoon it got extremely windy which was great for the absailers, but not so great for someone who wanted to walk around. I got off the windy street beside the lake and moved up one or two streets. There was only the occasional gust further up rather than the constant blowing.
I found one area of town which had to have been the town square surrounded by interesting old buildings (but looked more like reproductions). In the middle of the square, there was a rock band playing, so I watched them for a while then continued on.
The previous night, Julia from the hostel suggested going to a bar/restaurant called Manush, so I gave it a try and really quite enjoyed sampling their “artisan” beers. I suspect they don’t actually make them; maybe just re-brand them, but I could be wrong. Their food is excellent, however. Last night I tried their Patagonia pizza which includes smoked salmon (maybe trout) and spinach. This evening, I had the fresh trout, and it was probably the best trout I’ve had ever. Apparently, the cook is from Japan and there is probably some sort of love interest between the cook and the owner which is how he ended up down here. I took a picture of the trout, head and all, but the internet connection is not so good here, so I won’t even attempt to upload another picture. Last night Red Lager and Stout. Tonight, Honey Lager and Ale.
