The third day of the tour was not so exciting as it really just involved driving back to Uyuni with a few brief stops including one lagoon (green lagoon) and one stop in a town for lunch and one stop in a town for a break.
After getting back to Uyuni, I met up with Denmark as he was taking the same bus as me back to La Paz. We managed to sit together and endure the extremely bumpy first hour, the somewhat bumpy other 10 hours, the hot muggy conditions on the bus that were unnecessary because they could have turned off the heat; in other words, the less than ideal conditions for an overnight bus ride. Despite all of that, I got quite a bit of sleep because of the design of the bus. The seats reclined quite nicely and the heat rest was scoop shaped, so your head could roll around freely without it falling off the edge.
Once we arrived in La Paz, Denmark had decided he wanted to stay at my cheap hotel, so we made the 20 or so block walk up and down hills and got our rooms and decided to meet for lunch. After lunch, we signed Denmark up for the Death Road bike ride and he went off to use the Internet and I took a city bus down to Valle de la Luna which is an interesting natural feature caused by erosion.
I met Denmark again for Supper and we looked around for a pizza restaurant that wasn’t empty and found a teacher from Toronto on the way who was also looking for pizza. After a little bit of walk to the Spanish side of La Paz, we settled on a nice pizza place with a medieval decor.
After supper, I said my goodbyes to Denmark as I had to get up in the morning to catch a flight to Buenos Aires.
